Does anyone have an interesting, yet safe Huh way to build a fire pit/fire bowl that doesn't cost a lot?I saw one in an old wheelbarrow that you could move around the garden/yard in a magazine, but I'm afraid that in my garden there is no such thing as an OLD wheelbarrow-they are all useable!!!

I thought it would be cool to use an old satelite dish..the huge ones, but we have big bonfires too.  I got my hands on one but it was aluminum, so it never got very far Tongue

We dug a hole 3" diameter and 6-8" deep, lined the top with chunks of granite (they're big rectangular blocks). Then we put the 2 most rectangular ones in the middle. If I want to cook on it, I put an old round charcoal grill grate on it.

I cook hamburgers very late in the season this way! Plus it's pretty romantic  Cool

My husband should get all the credit though - his idea, his pictures, his work! And his quote - Let me know what they think. I think I'm slowly turning him to crackster!

A neighbor was getting rid of theirs so I snapped it up quick.  Ended up selling it for the aluminum so even though my plan didn't work... lol

Hey, check this one out!

http://www.treehugger.com/files/2006/09/art_from_old_pr.php#recent

There is an artist on Vancouver Island who makes them. Click on Shining Sun at the end of the description under the photo.

They have all kinds of designs. Some tanks are on their sides with a wedge shape cut out so it looks like a traditional bbq.  Very cool stuff!

I checked out that site-those are beautiful... I wish I knew how to work with metal Cry And actually their prices are pretty good compared to the factory made ones.
