Excellent stuff! I love bohemian, ethnic style clothing and the such, and that is right up my street! It reminds me of Glastonbury - which can only be a good thing!

Thanks for sharing, its gorgeous.

Ha ha, I was just looking at this and thinking...hmm, I could use one of those for Glastonbury! Cheesy

I'm going to have to scout out some green mesh! I love it!

Thats pretty much exactly what I thought!

Or maybe a scarf made in a similar way that could cunning morph between handband, neck scarf and belt... its all about travelling light but gorgeous/funky/bohemian with Glastonbury.

Can't wait, to get time ot try this and to get to Glastonbury!

They are knitted headbands to keep your hair in control and your head warm!!  Too hot for summer, but some of us are going to make them in cotton to see how they work out!  Since I also sew, I want to try a sewing one like yours--use up some of those tidbits of fabric in my bins!! ha ha

OHHHHH  that's cool! haven't ever seen one I don't think... I don't see why cotton would not work. Even make one out of a sweater or something that's already knitted... Wow if only I had some of that green stuff I made that DKNY top from... huh?? that would make a awesome headband... do I feel resale shopping in the air??

OMG people actually throw their scraps away!!?? They need help
Oh yah... I hadn't thought of making a bag but I love that idea. I just may have to try that... This same application applied to denim would be very bohemian... I've got that on my list now...

If you can get those scraps then go for it...

I got the green mesh stuff from a military surplus store out here in my area... I can't remember if it came in a bag like a big folded piece or if it was on a roll and you buy what you need... Some of those stores have that kind of stuff. I would love it in black...

The base is plain thin t shirt fabric.

As I sewed the mesh to the backing (you can see the stitching lines and how they go wavy and are random) I drew both the mesh and the t shirt fabric in so it made like a ridge as I sewed. That seemed to add texture and interest and made the whole piece more stable. I just ended the stitching where I wanted the end of the band to be and that's where it ties. Then I just trimmed off the access backing fabric. I can also just cross the ends @ the back and bring them up and tuck them under if I dont want them hanging down in the back. I also thought about adding some beads at the ends of the ties so even if I do the tuck in thing the beads will just hang out right at the back edge where the ties are tucked in.

I may end up lining it with something but no one sees the inside. I used a ultra fine point sharpie and wrote the date, the name, made by me, the ingredients, stuff like that... I took the pics before I did that...

The only other thing I had to do is make little tucks across he front cause it kinda jutted out away from my head too much. That brought it in so it layed against my forhead. You may be able to see the yellow thread I used to sew those bar tacs...

Thanks for all the compliments you guys... This was a fun and easy project. I hope some of you make some and share them...
