Does anyone know a way to knit polka dots that aren't huge?  the only way i could think of is to knit them big enough to have enough stitches to make circles.  but i want them to be smaller.  and i have been driving myself crazy trying to figure it out.  maybe it's a lost cause?

You could either change needle size or yarn weight once you get to the spot with the spots. However, this might present you with a gauge problem...

you can also get a 'carry along yarn' (berocco and others make them) with small tufts that create a polka dot like effect.

see what i mean here

oooooh i think i found something that is going to work!!  i found a dot stitch (bobble) on wikipedia.  i've never done bobbles and thought they all have to be huge, but this one is very small and hardly sticks out.  yay!
