A friend of mine, who sews, is thinking of buying a Blythe--I have been telling her what fun I have had making small clothes instead of human clothes, quilts, bags, etc...

So, girl--go get yourself one so we can exchange fabric scraps and make tiny clothes!!

Ruby Grace wearing her new hoodie! What a pain to make and the hoodie is for show only since her head is way too big and the hood looks goofy unless she wore it when I first made it to fit her head...

New party dress:

PJ's:

Fleece coat, hat and scarf:

Pirate skirt and top:

Convinced now? You know you want to... Cheesy

What's the point of a Blythe doll? I've seen them around and aside from making clothes for it, is there any other reason to have one?

ha ha --that is like asking what the point of anything that just puts a smile on your face...totally for fun--no point at all--just like people who are into collecting anything, really...a personal pleasure, sharing with others who like the same thing, etc. etc.

uh, like what's the point of having 50 pairs of black shoes? just because! ha ha  whatever you are into, ya know?

I meant no disrespect. I have just seen hundreds of Blythe pics and wondered if they were to americans like the jointed dolls are to the japanese. Dress 'em up, take pics, repeat.  Grin

Oh, you KNOW that you have convinced me!  Now help me convince my Hubby that sometimes you just have to splurge....not everything has to have a rational explaination!
I am going to go check ebay right now!  Maybe I will get lucky and find one that I like at a reasonable price....ha ha....I can dream, can't I?!

Possibly.  I'm not a collector, but I've looked at them on eBay and so forth, because I remember seeing ads for Blythe in the back of comic books when I was a kid in the early 70s, and I really wanted one then.  Now that I see how many different looks they have, and how people have made such interesting art and craft with them, they intrigue me even more.  But I'm cheap  Roll Eyes

If I remember correctly, there are some vintage ones and some that were made later in Japan.  I would imagine that the vintage ones are more expensive, but I think all of them are fairly pricey.  But there is something about them that invites a splurge...
