That is a really pretty dress and I know it'll look great on you!  If you decide not to do the straps, you might try a little 2-3 inch piece of elastic on the top part of the dress, maybe under the arms or somewhere inconspicuouse. Do a lttle bit of ruching and see it it helps hold it up. If you want to wear it with a bra, you could layer it over a tank top or skimmy camisole or decorative slip. It is totally classy looking and fun. Perfect!

Regardless of whether you're large or small busted, the laws of physics decree that, without modification, that dress is going to contribute to a break out year for you  Shocked (Forgive me for the high hilarity!), and lead to a lot of exposure for you... Roll Eyes

It's that V between the breasts that will be your undoing. Without something to hold those babies together, the fabric has no incentive to stay up (unless you want to use a LOT of double stick tape, or, of course, get pierced there to have a ring to tie it up to). A small band of something which would connect them would work, too, and I've seen gowns that used clear elastic or flesh colored mesh to get the look of nothing there but still have the support, but it doesn't really hold up under close scrutiny, i.e. Real Life.

Good luck! I want to see what you come up with!

McJulie-O: OOoooooOOWWwwww. Peircing? *shudder* No, I completely agree, I held up fine, actually, when I tried it on. But I was like, "MMmm, this really won't last long" So I'm planning on putting straps. Sometime. When I figure out whether it's worth it or not.  Undecided

Again, thanks so much everyone for your wonderful comments! :]

I really approve of straps in this case!

ARGGHH!!! I'm so sorry, I saw this reply a bit ago and then my internet got shot in the lung. :O!!

But, anyway, I hope this still helps - the top scallop bust piece is from a Vogue pattern, V8235. I'm not looking at the pattern, but I THINK it's bodice C. No, B. Wait... well, it's one of them.

It looks beeeautiful. Really professional! And dont give up, its totally worth finishing.

I think if you do put straps, it would look good to use the striped fabric, but with the stripes perpendicular to the straps. And maybe even a really cute little suspender-type diamond in the back, where the straps cross.
