I carved some crochet hooks out of dowel rods and thought I'd share.  It was pretty hard work and I now have wood shavings all over my apartment, but I like them.  I used my woodburning tool to embellish with pictures of my favorite microfossils (foraminifera) before finishing with wax.

I had bookmarked the tutorial for making these, then got a bit lazy (and busy with a thousand other things). But, after seeing these, I may have to take a crack at it over my upcoming vacation! At least one, and I happen to have some dowels handy!

Of, course, I don't think mine will come out as nice as yours- those woodburned forams rock!
