I basically used the Knit Wit pattern - I cast on the number of stitches for the larger case, and then knit plain (but with the intarsia C, and I knit it flat) stockinette, I did the flap in garter stitch.  I also made a pocket for the power supply.  Then I felted both pieces down.  I embroidered the kitty from Jenny Hart's Stitch-It Kit on the pocket, then sewed that pocket on.
It came out the right size for my cousin's iBook - which is not inside in this pic.  The felting makes it nice and cushy.

Melidomi, this is very cool. I'm impressed with all of the projects I've seen you post here, and I wonder how in the heck you do so much so quickly?!?  Wink Is this a present for your cousin or has s/he seen it? I'm sure your cousin will love it!!

It's a Christmas present for my cousin (hopefully she's not lurking around here!)  Her family lives in Scotland, so I'm frantically trying to finish all the gifts to mail to them ASAP.

As for getting so much done so quickly, I knit almost constantly!  I'm a fairly quick knitter, and I knit every day.  While watching tv, riding in the car, or while the boy plays videogames.  If I could knit while driving, I would - ok I admit it, I once picked up my knitting in a traffic jam.  I'm a horrible person!  Some might call me obsessed.

looks great, melidomi!  just to clarify: did you felt the entire thing?  or did you just felt part of it?

Whole thing is felted.  Threw that sucker in the washer for 2 or 3 cycles on hot wash, cold rinse with a little detergent and baking soda.  There's no stitch definition at all.  It's the best felting ever.  Oh, and it's so easy to hide the ends from embroidery, sewing on buttons, etc. in felt.  I love feltiness!

I've been thinking that my laptop was a bit cold and needed something warm. I love the initial and your work is amazing here! Felting rocks! You rock!

Ooh, I've never seen "Knit Wit," I'm in love...where on the site did you find the lap top pattern though? I'm not seeing it right off...

Lovely job by the way, very very nice.

It's from the book Knit Wit: 30 Easy and Hip Projects.

Thanks for the compliments, everyone!  I'm really happy with how it turned out.
