That's High School for You. =\
«
on:
March 31, 2007 09:01:11 PM »
My school held it's senior fashion show this past Thursday, which had a Project Runway segment included. Participating designers were to design & make (not necessarily by themselves) a semi-formal/formal dress. Of course, I HAD to participate. How could I pass this up?
& I'm sorry I don't have better pictures. If I get some, I'll switch it up.
My best friend, Erika, was my model.
Closest shot I have of the bodice.
The design was inspired by two Vera Wang dresses I saw. For the skirt I used a golden satin-y material & covered it with black chiffon (I totally understand what everyone has been bitching about with chiffon). The waistband is green velour with some trim over it, & the bodice is interfaced so it held it's shape better. There is an invisible zipper in the back as well.
The audience voted, & I didn't win. The dress in the background of the last picture won. However, I heard people were voting more for the model than the actual design of the dress, so that kind of pisses me off (I'm not going to be modest, I know I should've won, haha).
Oh well, that's high school. I only missed out on a free prom ticket anyway.
Questions answered:
- There isn't any boning holding the dress up or in shape. Pretty much all that's holding it up is Erika's boobies. I used darts to shape the bodice & interfacing so it would be stiffer.
- My pants are from Guess. :]
Thanks for looking! & thanks for your great comments!

For a high school competition, that dress is extremely intracite and designed extremely well. I mean, just look at the top! It's absolutely beautiful. Not to mention the bottom, which is a really cool design to. The dress in general is not the usual prom-like dress, so I love it. And yes, you really should have won.
