Butterflies, Buttons, & Crochet--ah, life is good!

I'm having a really bad day, so this may be a really sucky idea, but thought I'd toss it out there anyway.

The premise of the swap would be to send a partner 3-5 small items or group of items from your own stash of crafty stuff, then your partner would have to craft you something using the items you sent. Your partner would do the same.

Example: Mary sends Marcia a button, some ribbon, a couple of stickers, a few beads, and a piece of felt. After stalking Mary on Craftster, Marcia comes up with a totally awesome handbag using the button and ribbon as accents. With the beads, she makes a neat little bracelet, then uses the felt & stickers to create a one-of-a-kind card for her partner. Mary also crafts for Marcia using the items sent to her.

Kinda like stash bustin'...only different...

And considering the time it takes for the Postal Service, it might be better to limit it to the US & Canada, since it would require sending twice--once to send your items to you partner, then again to send your partner the items you crafted for them.
Any suggestions, thoughts, ideas, questions?

Cool idea - I know I have some things I just know would make something cool, it just hasn't "spoken" to me yet.
What if we made it a little easier and sent a t-shirt that can be used as a "base" for the project.

A t-shirt? Eep. I wouldn't even know what to do with a t-shirt. LOL
It could always be one of the items sent, though.

I like this idea a lot!  I think I would prefer the possibilities were narrowed down a bit too, like making clothing, a bag, or jewelry....or something for the kitchen or house....or something just decorative.

Yeah, out of the blue it might be hard to come up with a crafty idea, but when you are given an item to craft, all this inspiration can come to you. I think this is a really cool idea.

I love this idea- I think something like it might have been done before, but I can't remember the name of the swap!  Smiley
