McQueen cable coat knock off

When I saw this coat I wanted it...or should I say, wanted to knit it!

Then the Vogue Knitting came out with a very similar pattern. And several months later I began but it took me 6 weeks to knit, which isn't bad. I knit it with Red Heart acrylic (CHEAP!) because I read that you can wash/dry it and it will come out soft. And its true!!! I changed the arms to look more like the one in the magazine, plus I wasn't a huge fan of the patterned arms. Today I got the buttons and took the pictures:





Its so cosy, I love it!

This looks so great. I can't even imagine how long it must have taken you to knit this. Does the red heart really get that much softer after you wash it? Good job on a very wearable sweater.

Looks fabulous! Great job! I'm a HUGE fan of knitted coats...made my first back in the late 60s/early 70s... and this one's a winner!

That is gorgeous!  I can hardly believe that you really knit that with Red Heart, it looks amazing.  Does it really come out as soft as it looks?
