detachable pompom is a great idea, because I like the hat with the pom pom.. maybe I'm weird, but pom pom's are da bom! Smiley Thanks for sharing yet another of your lovely hats. Smiley

I love those hats!  My personal preference is without pompom.  Maybe my teen girls are quirky, but neither of them would go for a pompom on their hats.  A detachable one is such a great idea!

Why not make the pom-pom detachable? Sew a big button to it that will fit into the stitches at the top of the hat and tell her it's a convertible hat. Smiley
that way if she's like you and just doesn't like pom-poms she can take it off, but if she does like them she can leave it on. Smiley

I think they are both very cute!

What an exceptional idea!  I think that is what I'll do!!!!  Thanks, so much for the suggestion!
You are welcome. Smiley

I happen to like the pom-pom. It could even be a bigger pom-pom in my opinion. Poms are just fun  Cheesy.

Either way you decide, the hats are both nice and anyone would be happy to get them.

I have to say that I agree... Maybe it just needs to be bigger??

I like the convertible idea - and I think a teenager would also.  For me, I like the non-pompom one.

Both of them are Yarn Bee's Mosaic Twist ( which happens to be on sale right now for 99cent/skein at Hobby Lobby - it is normally 6.44/skein ).  You can see the various colors here:  http://www.craftsetc.com/store/search.aspx?searchTerm=mosaic+twist

And, I think that I'm going to go with the detachable pom pom for this hat!!!  I wish that I were better at making pom poms!!!  Any suggestions?  I made another hat with this yarn and this (made up... lol) pattern.  I'll try to get pics and post it - it is actually for me!!!  Yay!
