I couldn't resist when I saw this hoodie I had to give it a try. Here's the result:

Here's the url : http://storage.canalblog.com/65/99/203645/11809485.jpg
It is crocheted from side to side in Bernat Super Saver, it is my first self-designed garnment and I love love love it. I am gonna try it in a finer cotton yarn for spring next to match a bit better the original Anthropologie one and to try and correct a couple of things, like the hood being too big.

Thanks for looking

Wow!  That's great - it looks really close to the original and I love the tan color that you used!  We definitely need to see modled pictures to see how it lays on you.  Great work!!!

WOW! I love that! What a wonderful job. Definately if you do a pattern I would love to give it a try too, and actually you just inspired me to go deconstruct one of my favorite machine made sweaters so see if I can replicate it. Yay!

Thanks a lot for the compliments everyone, you made my day.
I'll try and post pictures of me wearing it soon. The drape of the Bernat thing is not that good though and the thing is a bit bulky, it is not as flattering as I would have liked when it is closed as a result but it looks very nice open.
I promise to TRY and write a pattern, at least for the pattern repeat I used. I am new at designing and did a lot of improvisation on this one.

petite_audrey- That is truely beautiful. I usually don't crochet sweaters, but I would definitely give this one a try if the pattern was available. I can just see this in some sinforia cotton mercerized yarn.

Absolutely gorgeous!  I'm so impressed that you improvised this.   Whenever you have the time, even if you write a rough template with the stitch pattern, I could so try to make something like this for m'self.   Grin  Thanks for posting!

I agree, some mercerized cotton sport weight yarn would be lovely with this.  I saw someone wearing a sweater crocheted from Patons Grace that draped beautifully--just to throw in another yarn suggestion.  Bernat Cool Crochet, which is an inexpensive nylon blend (I think) is also supposed to be good for projects like this.

Here are the new pictures

I might try the paton grace for the next one, I am still looking into it.
I am searching for some kind of standard size measurement chart to have a go a pattern writing but I can't find any that looks accurate.

The hoodie looks great. I've been crocheting for forever it seems and I still haven't made any kind of clothing garment. This has inspired me!

Wow, great job. Your replica looks exactly like the original. I would also LOVE the pattern if you get a chance to write it down. I never understood why there are always cute crochet garments in stores but it's so hard to find a stylish pattern.

That looks really good. I love the color, too.  I couldn't find the sweater on Anthropologie that began your inspiration, but  Shocked my God at the prices!!  $200 for a SWEATER?!  pfft..  Yours is way better!

The link didn't come up for me either but that is a really nice hoodie and a good idea.  I want a hoodie this year so if you do have the pattern I would love to get it.

Yeah, this just proves to us that knitted (sadly) sweaters do not always look better.  I could probably make this if there were a pattern (hint, hint)! ha  Wink
