So, here are all the pysanky I've made so far this year.

These eggs have been varnished and emptied.

These eggs have not been varnished or emptied yet, hence the slightly duller sheen.

And I'm off to scrub the wax off my hands.

Edit:  Here are some new eggs I've done.

This egg was done for the lovely RecycleMicol for a personal swap.  I hope she likes it!

This egg was also sent to RM for her neighbor's daughter, who is crazy about Disney princesses.

Where does the wax come in? Are they painted or dyed?

Gorgeous!  My aunt and uncle do pysanky and they taught me how, it takes so much patience!  These are wonderful, I especially like the blue one that you did

The wax comes in a little block, and you apply it to the egg using something that looks like a mini funnel on a stick, called a kistka.  Then the egg is dyed the lightest color, more wax is applied, and so on until you have all the colors you want.  Then you melt the wax off and the design is all there.   Smiley
