So normally, I'm a shirt designer and duct tape artist. I make duct tape purses and stencil shirts and such. Well I haven't done anything in a while, so I wanted something new. I came into this board hoping to find something interesting because i absolutely LOVE to write. A notebook/journal would be perfect! I came across one topic that used old vinyl records as covers. It's the coolest thing ever. So I took a show and tried it! Here are the results!

This is the front of the journal.

This is the inside.
I had to trip the paper and repunch holes to fit the record. It wasn't too bad.

Overall it took me about 1.5 hours because I did everything by hand. I cut all the paper, repunched holes, x-acto knife to cut the record AND a heated nail for the record holes.

Please let me know what you think =)

That was actually the easy part. I used a ruler so it was straight then I just kept cutting over and over along the same line. Make sure you press hard on the x-acto so you get a deep cut. Once the cut is deep enough, you just snap the record. Be careful though. It's really easy =)

That looks really good, but what did you bind it with?  Metal rings?

Well metal rings would have been a good idea. I didn't have any though so i just used chickenwire. (odd i know..) But it works and it holds together nicely. Next time though, I'll use metal rings.

Aw sorry that it broke. I have one of those big heavy duty ones. They're a monster. At least they're cheap and you can always buy a new one to try again wtih =)
