After finally finishing all my projects for other people, I decided to make something for myself.  I made Knitty's Nakiska and it was a lot of fun to do.  And very quick.  I had some extra Simply Soft laying around and it worked out great.  I would probably make it a little bigger next time.  It doesn't stretch very much with the cables.

That is lovely!

I made one last year, but like you found that it didn't stretch much and was a bit small for me to wear (plus it really looked awful with my hairstyle!) so I gave it to my eldest daughter instead...  she loves it and wears it as a headband.

That's really cute. I don't remember seeing it on the Knitty site so I should look again!

What kind of bind off did you use?

Mine actually stretched a good bit - at least enough to comfortably fit around my head (and people actually say that I have a big head too).  I used 100% wool, so maybe that had something to do with it since wool is so stretchy.
