Anyone interested in doing this one again? Where you send a copy of your favourite children's book to your partner and they make crafts related to it?
I couldn't organize or and maybe not even participate, most likely, due to my poor time management, but I would love to see great results.

this sounds like a great theme for a swap.  I missed it the first time around, but I'd definitely be down if it went again.  I could maybe even organize depending on when it is...

i just love the fact that it combines two of my favorite hobbies - reading and crafting!  plus i am so the kind of person who's always arguing it's okay to read kids books as an adult.  for the nostalgia, but also just because some of them are such good stories!

I love this idea!  It would have to have a long return on it though, if we had to read the books before making a swap.

maybe not that long if they are all children's books.  i guess it depends on the book people would choose.  maybe you could have a page length maximum to control the time spent on reading?  i'm so in love with this idea i'll do whatever it takes to make it work!

I can organize it, that's no problem, but it looks like right now there is not that much interest. Sad  Just 5 of us, and one is a maybe.  We can keep the thread around for awhile and see if we pick up any more interested people.

Yeah, if I remember correctly we had a lot of people when I did this swap. Also, I sent a picture book, so my partner didn't have to read a lot- hehe! She sent me a fairly long book, but it only took me a few days to read. What we all did was to first buy a copy of our favorite book to send our partner. We sent it (this was part 1 of the swap and we got DC#s for this). Then after that we had a certain amount of time to craft something for our partner based on their favorite book.

thanks for the fyi ghostgirl!  two rounds of dcns is smart.  i'm sure partners would appreciate lots of pictures in their books, so good idea there!

i bet we're losing some people right now to the "i <3 the library swap" - similar themes and all.

ok, well we should give it maybe another week or so, and then i can post it up.  it's just that usually numbers shrink betwen the "swap ideas" board and the actual "swaps" board, so if we start out with only 6, attrition says we'd end up with 4.  hopefully we'll see a bit more interest first.

when would people want to do it?  early may work?

I'd be interested in this too, but my only worry would be the length of the book I would want to send out- though still a children's book it isn't a picture book. I noticed that there may be a page limit so I would have to see what that was if it came into place. Either that or have a fast reader as a partner  Grin

HelenM, i would hate for you to miss out on this over the length of a book so if you want to be my partner (If thats ok with bethiej78?) i will speed-read it for you, any excuse to read is a good one!!

Yay! That would be good. Its not an epic tome, so not quite as daunting as it might have sounded from my original post! Despite being nearly 30 (Shocked) , I love children's books so this swap just sounds great.

And I spy you are UK based too, so cheaper postage  Tongue

Cheers,
Helen

Sure, that's fine - whatever you two want to do.  I don't mind putting you together once we get it started.  I don't think we really need a page limit on the books anyway.  I'm sure we're all in the swap b/c we love to read, so however long it takes, it takes.  Or if speed reading is necessary, whatev!  We'll figure it out.  So maybe we'll shoot to start at the beginning of May, with signups the last week of April.

the bearenstien bears were great.  but i think i'd probably go with one of my non-series favorites, just b/c it's probably less likely to be read alreay.

PS - i'll start signups later this week

This would be my first swap, but I'm definitely interested.  I haven't been able to sign up for any other swaps because they all require participation in at least two previous swaps.  Sad  If you decide to keep that rule, I'll totally understand.  I hope it goes well!

Sheilsmonstah, Just a quick note, normally its the organizers that need to have done 2 swaps to organize it, not the participants. I would hate for you to miss out on a swap because the instructions were unclear.

(sorry if i'm treading on someones toes, i'm just trying to help!)
