This is going to sound really whiny, I'm afraid, but here goes nothing.

I love, love, LOVE the "Hot New Topics" page...if nothing else, that's what I check when I come to craftster.  But I have to be honest, It drives me nuts when there are several posts on that page that include 10 or 20 or MORE photographs.  It makes for tons of scrolling when I thought the point of the page was to have a quick, easy way to see what people are talking about at that moment.

I don't know much about code, but would there be a way to compact or cut off the posts on that page once they reach a certain length?

Thanks for letting me suggest something!

This is my personal opinion, not my admin opinion...hehe...

I wouldn't like it if the posts were cut off.  I like to be able to see the hot new topic's first post in its entirety.  It might be that 20th picture that's making it a Hot New Topic. Cheesy

I don't mind multiple photos, especially since good, hardy tutorials require lots of photos.

I think way too many photos are kinda annoying, especially if they're all huge. I agree that tutorials probably need them, but 10 different shots of the same object isn't always a good thing.

I think the ones with more then 10 shots are the ones that have multiple projects on the thread like four different bags, three different hoodies, etc.  There are some like that on the Hot New Topics now, I think.

Interesting points here. I'll see if I can come up with a compromise of some sort.

Maybe somehow incorporate the slideshows you used in the last Challenge Entries?  Wonder if you could have threads that appear on Hot New Topics with that many images show up as slideshows instead?

...the thought of how you would code that makes my teeth hurt, but it sounded cool in my head. Cheesy

along similar lines, it might be cool just to have a "skip" link at the top of a post, that takes you to the next one. This would also be nice for people who constantly stalk the hotnewtopics and see the same posts several times.
