I did this for a lovely lady in a swap. Smiley  She loves blue and collects elephants - some of my favorites!

He is 16" in diameter and is made from melted beads and faux liquid leading. Smiley

For size reference...

Supplies:

Plastic pony beads (like these)
Giant cake pan
Liquid Leading (totally optional for additional decoration)

Steps:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Arrange beads into name, shape or whatever design you desire.

Carefully put pan into oven to bake.  If you move too quickly, you'll roll your beads around on the pan.  Take your time! Smiley

Bake until your piece is at your desired consistency.  The longer you bake, the flatter you piece will become.

Remove from oven and allow to thoroughly cool.

Gently flip the pan over and the piece will release from the pan.

If you are adding Liquid Leading detailing, do so now. Smiley

Display it!  Lean it on a shelf, or hang it with ribbon from suction cups on a window. Smiley

Please use ventilation and caution when melting plastic beads.  Do not melt plastic around pets or children.

I got inspiration for the shape of the ellie from this real stained glass site Cheesy http://chantalstainedglass.50megs.com/2babyelephant1.html

What patience you have to place the beads, the colors and design are awesome.  The liquid leading really pops the design.

That's gorgeous!

Did you do the liquid leading after it was cooled?

Yep, after it was completely cool, which actually only take a few minutes (thank goodness because I'm impatient, hehehe).

Ooh, I love Chantal's stained glass -- that site is addicting!  And your beads really do look like stained glass -- great technique!  Someone was a very lucky swap partner, if you ask me!   Grin
