Okay..both tutorials are now done.  The spider tutorial has been added on in pg 3 of the post, and here is the link to the spider tut: www.oddeity.com/tutorials/spidertut.zip

First of all...if you think this is going to take too long to load, try and rather use the link below to download a word doc with the tuturial.    Just right-click and save target as.... please let me know if there are problems with this.
I think the images are resized by craftster, but if you right-click and save image, and open in something else, you should be able to read the instructions more clearly.

Here's the link: www.oddeity.com/tutorials/skull_tutorial.zip
Also: here's the link to the template I used:  www.oddeity.com/tutorials/skull.jpg

Let's start, shall we:

1.   You’ll need:
•   outside fabric of your choice
•   lining fabric of your choice
•   20cm (8”) zipper
•   webbing for strap
•   felt
2.   Cut out two skulls from fabric, 2 from lining and 2 from interfacing using template provided. As seen on the pic, add about 1cm around the
                template  for seam allowances.
3.   I cut the skull, gusset and zip part from fabric, iron them onto interfacing and then just cut them from the interfacing again.
4.   Therefore wherever I refer to the fabric, this refers to the fabric with interfacing already attached.
5.   Later on I refer to the middle-marks.  Fold the skull in half and mark the middle at the top and bottom

6.   Cut out your gusset 12cm wide and 47 cm long.  This will be the bottom part of the gusset, excluding the zip.  Cut one from fabric and one from
lining.  This measurement includes the seam allowances.  Fold the gusset in half lengtways and mark the middle,  Do this for both the zipper section
fabric and lining and the gusset fabric and lining.  You will need these marks to later match the sections up.

7.   There are two ways to do the zipper – visible and “invisible”.  I’ll show both.

8.   For the visible zipper, you need one piece of fabric and one of lining, 35cm long and 12cm wide.

9.   That’s the one way done.  If you did the zipper this way, go the the part where you attach the zipper section to the gusset.

10.   For the invisible zipper you don’t use one whole piece, but rather two pieces that you connect.  The formula for the two pieces is:
(the width of you gusset ÷ 2),+2.

11.   This method is longer and a bit more difficult, but when done right, it does look very nice.

12.   This means that for our bag we need two pieces that are 32 cm long and each 8cm wide.  Cut two each from fabric, lining and interfacing.

13.   As explained, mark the length of your zip on each piece, and then line them up to sew them together.

14.   This is then the end of the invisible zipper method.  Now you can go on to attaching the zipper section to the rest of the gusset

Hey…you’re done!  Hope that made sense.  Please PM or mail me if you have any question, or trouble getting the word document.

Ok.  I've decided that I must ask a huge favor - is there any way that you can post a pattern for the skull purse?  I just love it way too much!!!!

Do you just want the pattern, or a tutorial as well?
I'll check to see if I still have the template I used and post that.

Oh wow!  I absolutely love them!  Please post a tutorial.
I was just wondering though; how does the spider bag look when you hold the handle?  Is the bottom sturdy enough for it to stay straight?

Cheesy Oh wow, those turned out great. What fun. I think the skull one if my fave. Is it like a canteen/super short duffle style but with the skull shape rather than a circle?
