UPDATED! Pirate Clutch - Just about my favorite thing I've made ever!

I just finished this clutch last night . . I had the idea floating around in my head for a while but I hadn't had time to actually make it until now.  Its made from Lion Cotton w/ a G hook, the fabric is from Joann and the button is vintage.  I'm really happy with how it turned out!!!  Just LOVE that fabric

Very Cute!  Love that crochet work and that fabric!!!  All the JoAnn Fabric stores in my area closed down!  They were bought out by Michaels!  So no cool fabric for me anymore except for in my travels!  You lined it so well....did you machine sew the fabric in or hand stitch it?

Lammissa - OH NO about joann merging with michaels!!! they aren't the same thing at all!!!  thats horrible!  have you tried looking online for fabrics?  i've seen some really amazing ones, although they tend to run a bit more expensive than joann's.   i sewed up the lining to make a pocket by machine, but i sewed it into the bag by hand, i just find thats easier. 
Lisiepeasie - the pattern is my own.  this bag is actually my first try and on my second try i made a few improvements . . . its really just a big rectangle folded up and sewn to itself!

CraftyBee - here is a list of instructions on how i line my bags, i hope it makes some kind of sense!  you basically just make a pocket (with a pleat in the bottom if your bag is flat bottomed) and stitch it into your bag.  hope this helps!

Cut a piece of fabric about triple the "height" of your bag and about 3 inches wider than the bag's width.

Fold fabric in half width wise, right sides facing each other and iron crease

Make a pleat in the bottom crease that will accommodate the flat bottom width of your bag (if any) and iron flat

Fold top edges over so that lining is the proper "height" for your bag and iron flat (you can trim excess with pinking shears)

Sew up sides of your lining by hand or machine making a pocket just about the width of your bag (a little more or a little less won't matter too much because crocheted fabric stretches a bit) and again, if desired, trim excess with pinking shears

Slide your lining pocket into your bag and line the corners up with the bag's corners

Start sewing lining in by hand at one corner and work all the way around.  Check to make sure your bag and lining pocket corners will line up as you approach the second corner.  Sew into the inside loops of your crocheted piece only and your stitches won't show from the outside of the bag.   

Once your lining is all sewn in, tie your thread off and hide the ends in between the lining and the crocheted bag.
