I was thinking about making something similar to these for my mother and mother in law http://images.etsy.com/all_images/6/64b/5dd/il_fullxfull.6829682.jpg
and a matching apron for mothers day. I'm not sure wheather they would think it's cute or dumb. what do you guys think?
i figure even if they don't use them they would look cute in the kitchen.

I personally wouldn't use those...maybe for decoration?

They're cute, but they're a little bit over the top...but that's just my opinion.

nemejia:  I think they'd be kitschy-cute, especially with matching aprons!  Don't know if you do any digital designing, but can you make a few matching Recipe Cards to go with?  That'd be cute, too   Smiley or cover a little 99c store notebook, or make fridge magnet...sorry to talk too much, but I'm gettin' all inspired by your idea and I'm thinking maybe to steal it to do for my Mom, LOL!

I think that they are cute, and I totally agree that it should be a set if at all possible!  Gloves, an apron, and a potholder.  Your on the right track!

i like an apron/potholder/oven mitt idea
but it's not practical for dish gloves which 1. tend to get wet and dirty and so would look crappy after a while and 2. you don't keep the same pair forever

I know you don't keep the same pair of gloves forever.. but I just think that as a set it's kitschy-cute, thus the apron so you'd have something after you throw the gloves away. I do like the recipe cards and potholders ideas- Thanks. now I just have to find the right fabrics for the recipients according to taste.

I really love those gloves! My best friend's MIL is quite erm... well... one of those MIL's *nicest way I could put it* and she would be horrified if she got anything related to cleaning or the "role placed upon women by society", but... as long as they won't get offended by the gloves, and realize they can throw them away eventually, then it would be a great gift (particularly if it was a matching set)

But, like I said before, I would totally love them. But probably not use them as I would not want them to be to dirty.  Roll Eyes

To counteract the possibility of someone getting offended by the whole "cleaning thing", you could include manicure supplies, or a manicure gift card. Soooo... the gloves would be to protect the manicure!  Grin

I would be tickled pink to get those gloves and a matching apron!

I was off to save the world....until I was distracted by something shiny.
