so i was trying to figure out to be for halloween and i was STUMPED. then i saw a four-year-old in the paper dressed as a care bear. and then i decided it would be a good idea for me, a 26-year-old heterosexual male, to go as a care bear for halloween.

i was wanting to be cheer bear or the other pink one, but i couldn't find matching pink sweats. see, i decided that the best way to go would be to get a hoodie and matching sweatpants. right? right. so anyway, i found this nice ladies baby blue hoodie and pants for super cheap. i couldn't find mittens. that would have been choice. anyway...

i took the pocket off the front so i'd have fabric for the ears. then i cut them mothas out.

i found some skanky stuffing (i couldn't find my... i mean... my friend's sewing stuff) and cut it to size.

and since my... i mean... my friend's sewing machine is currently on the fritz, i handstitched the ears, flipped them and stuffed them.

and i stitched them to the hoodie. i put it on and marked where they'd to so it would be right.

and then i slept.

and when i woke up, i grabbed a white t-shirt that i don't wear (it's too big) and cut a big chunk out of it.

and then i cut it into a circle by folding it into quarters. you know what i'm sayin'.

and then i EVER SO CAREFULLY sketched out the stomach design onto some fancy stencil material. if you're up on your care bears, you'd know by now that this is a Grumpy Bear costume.

i cut out the raincloud and raindrops and spray painted them in blue onto the fabric. it's windy in west texas, so it's not totally perfect. fine, it's not CLOSE to perfect. cut me some slack, jerks.

then i drew the hearts with a red acrylic paint pen and outlined everything in black.

then i fabric glued the circle onto the hoodie (so it wouldn't droop) and stitched around the whole mamma jamma (again, by hand).

and i drew the red heart on the right cheek of the pants with paint pens.

and VOILA!!! i am Grumpy Bear. aw, the world makes me sad. but it's "to show you how silly we are when we're grumpy" or whatever. My theory is that he's grumpy because his pants make him look like kinda dumpy. tapered legs. ew.

and then i took a little nap. aww. gimme candy. wait, just gimme some cash. Grumpy Bear needs a plane ticket to see Girlfriend Bear.
