Does anyone know of a pattern that would resemble this skirt?
http://www.anthropologie.com/jump.jsp?itemID=12371&itemType=PRODUCT&iSubCat=322&iMainCat=314

Any help is greatly appreciated!

The Anthropologie skirt is just shorter.

I disagree; it's missing all the pleats that make it look so tailored.  I wish it were in blue velour!

Looking at the closeup, lil_abi is right. It looks like a skirt with godets and a waistband. The skirt part has sewn the top third together to appear like box pleats - the zoom feature is not as good as seeing this in person (and I haven't) - large godets that are 2 thirds high and the little one(s? can't tell if there is one or two per "pleat") at the bottom. Yikes, sounds tedious and needs careful planning (the part I like).

If you really need a pattern, get a plain skirt pattern and alter it by adding the pleats and godets into it a la: http://vintagesewing.info/1940s/42-mpd/mpd-08.html

I wonder if denim is too thick to use in this (hint: ooh, that'll be an interesting recon)

I used to have a skirt like this and I'm thinking you could get a similar look by just using box pleats. Depending on how long you've been sewing, the godets would be a pain to cut out and sew together (ie  lots of little pieces). Unless you wanted to use denim, in which case the box pleats would be a bit to bulky then.

You could try something like this vogue pattern: http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/voguepatterns/shop.cgi?s.item.V8255=x&TI=20018&page=2

but instead of just sewing the box pleat at the top, you would sew it down for the top third of the skirt, and not press the pleats so that the bottom then just looks gathered, not pleated like in the vogue picture.  Hope that helps some!

That's definitely it!  YAY for Vogue patterns, though when sewing they always make me wish I'd sewed my fingers together so I won't have to finish them.  But I digress.  I think sewing down the pleats will definitely approximate the pleats on the anthropology skirt.

Thanks a lot.  I'll check out the Vogue pattern when I finally get some cash, hopefully on Easter.

What about something like Kwik Sew 3372? View C looks similar, but longer.
I personally really like kwik sew, I find their directions easy to follow. Vogue seems like you need to know what you are doing more. I was looking at that pattern earlier trying to find a basic A-line skirt fabric for some awesome hovercar material I have. Then I saw this and I was all "Ooh, I've seen something similar to that".
Its not exactly the same, but it has the same feel.
Although Kwik sew doesn't go on sale like the others do, I like them more. The patterns are neat, too because they are on real paper instead of tissue paper, so they are more reusable.
