I know it's very plain, but this is the first bag I've ever done! It's a placemat bag at that, so I hardly feel like I've done anything. Special thanks to not2old4glitter for this tute: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=94934.0! It really helped me understand the corners! I'm new to sewing, so I was pretty proud of myself.

I was too lazy to change the thread to red or black, so the light blue thread is visible where I sewed the straps on. Does anyone have any suggestions for embellishments to cover up the light blue thread? Next time I'm going to add pockets, and possibly a liner.

That's a nice bag!  Clean and classy-looking.  Maybe some pretty buttons to cover over the stitching?  They'd look good and be easy to attach.

maybe you could take a red or black sharpie and carefully color the thread that is showing.
