Years ago my aunt was a knitter/spinner/weaver but has taken a break.

So for the past few years she has been throwing away the fleece of her goats! This year she offered to let me come help shear and if the fleece was usable - to take what I wanted home.

I believe the white is a pygora fleece, the other two are colored mohair. The white was from the 'baby' and my aunt said it was the best fleece from her yet!

The only disappointing thing was that I (stupidly) forgot the camera at the house when I left this morning and couldn't take any pictures of the process... Other than that, she loaned me her drum carder/hand combs and gave me two additional fleeces that she has been storing. I feel a little overwhelmed, but it should keep me busy for awhile!

A few more pictures of the others are up on Flickr.

Wow. I'm very jealous of the pygora - that stuff sells for anywhere from $3-$23 per ounce!

Last year about this time, I got two free mohair fleeces in return for doing the shearing - but they weren't nearly as nice as what you got.
