So I took a break from my new-sewer loves Ms. Wendy Mullin and Ms. Hello Kitty (I have the tiny but great Hello Kitty machine from Target.com) to test out my big girl machine (a Janome L-344) on this Craftster creation:

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=114872.0

Have to say, I was not impressed with the new machine. It could just be some normal growing pains but it was stiff and cranky. Anyhow, I'll get over it. Using a stretch (lightening?) stitch I whipped up a dress that I affectionately call my Dobby Sack, then had a little 'Going Grey' photoshoot since I've been finding silver strands lately and it's bumming me out!

The raw boatneck was a little too Flashdance for me so I used scraps to wrap up some straps. I love how it turned out! Before I did that I folded the raw armhole edges in and they're staying put.

It really is just a rectangle!

The rest of the fabric tube turned into scarves. I slapped my label on that but only because the giftee insisted. All I did was cut it!

Okay, that's quite enough out of me for now. Crafting is trumping my schoolwork a little too easily now that I know the instant gratification joys of easy sewing...

That is so cute!  I especially love how you modified the straps.  I might try to make one of these over the weekend.

Thanks for all the nice remarks! I heartily encourage all of you to make one, it took no time at all and this was my first project with A) a real sewing machine and B) stretch fabric. I've worn it quite a bit this week, it's super comfy!
