I'm pretty proud of myself--I made a pair of socks!  Two socks!  It took about a week from when I cast on the first one until when I grafted the toe of the second.
I used Plymouth sockotta and instructions from Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch.

ETA:
Thanks everyone!  They weren't hard to do, I just followed the instructions.  Only today I was gonna wear them and the yarn at the cast-on edge broke!  And with it my heart.  But I'm already considering the next socks I'll make.  I AM hooked now.

Well done - you made them both! My second sock is, erm, still in progress... Roll Eyes *might* finish it one day!
