i have this same book!  i actually bought it mostly for the taiyaki pattern.  i love taiyaki sooo much but haven't had a real one in two years now ;_;  it's actually supposed to be a cell phone case, but even after i made it with a smaller hook than was called for, it came out huge!  but it's actually the perfect size for my nintendo DS, so i'm not complaining ^_^

i've never posted a project on crafster before, but i figured i'd share my version of the taiyaki purse here ^_^  i hope it's ok for me to post these here!  links cuz i can't post full pics yet...

front-

back-

inside (this was the yarn that was the closest color to anko that i had-- if i made it again i think i would go buy a burgundy or maroon color i think)

perfect for the DS! (i put stickers on mine cuz everyone and their little brother had a blue older style DS)

this was actually the first project from a japanese craft book where i had to pull out my electronic dictionary to make sure i was doing it right, but it was a bit more complicated that the usual amigurumi patterns i felt.  i really want to try making the cute pocket tissue holder next!

Cool idea, I was thinking of making a DS cozy, maybe I'll just make one of these instead.  I love the stickers on your DS, too  Grin

How cute!  I love how your lined yours with the colour of the traditional taiyaki filling, red bean paste.

I ordered this book, plus a couple of others, when I first saw this post. And, now I just have to wait for everything to arrive. I'm a bit nervous, though- I looked at the donut pattern (link a few posts back in a reply by ax174) and there were some symbols I didn't know (X with a dash under it, for example). So, when my book comes in (in a couple of weeks), I'll be needing some help figuring out a few things!  Grin

Well, I've been staring at the donut pattern (I was eating dinner so I gawked while I gulped), and I've figured out that the filled in oval is a slip stitch/join at the end of  a round, and the V shape with the X is for an increase or decrease depending on which way the V points, but I'm still stumped about the X with the dash under it...I'll have to try and find my other book of symbol crochet patterns (in English!)...I'm walking away from the computer now...really...

I think the x with the dash under it is single crochet thru the back loop or something like that.

Thanks christina! Even if it's "something like that," at least now I won't be lying awake tonight trying to figure it out...since I haven't located my symbol crochet book that's written in English...
