I was inspired tonight by an old pair of my husband's BDU's.  These were worn nearly every day for 3 years, and they got a hole in them so he got a new set.  Anyhow, I cut off the pockets on the legs of the pants and made them into a sort of "Jordy bag".  I lined the new bag with pastel pink...which I think makes the bag.

The pockets are completely functional, so the bag actually has 3 compartments.

Oh, and I sewed his name patch on the strap, so it shows when I sling the bag over my shoulder.

This took me less than an hour start to finish.  Super easy, and I'm THRILLED with it.  Now I just need to decide how to use the BDU jacket!  Wink

the pocket (there is one on each side...both functional):

the lining (not really true to color unfortunately...it's a very pretty pink)

I LOVE that.  It looks great, but I love even more that they were your husbands and his name patch.  I'm such a sucker for sentimental!

Excellent, I love where you put the name patch and the buttons. Cool bag!

Your BDU bag is great! I think my son would even use something like this. He's deathly afraid of any of my crafted bags. Thanks for sharing this cool idea!!  Grin

Grin I LOVE these!! I have seen a few of these around town. I am trying to learn to sew, cause I would like to make one of these, but I wanted to do mine in patches of bdu fabric and other fabric. It is such a cute idea, and a great way to salvage those old bdu's...especially now with the dcus being issued!! Great job!!

Me too!   Smiley    I keep stuff sometimes just because my mom gave it to me (I live 1500 miles from her); it might be a horrid little thing but I'll keep it anyway.

That is such a good idea.  I love BDU's and cargo's, and a purse from them sounds just great.  I think I still have a khaki pair my own hub used to wear, although the camo looks better.  Now I have to go hunt up an army surplus store!!

Don't you hate it when people fill up their signature with random junk you could care less about reading but when you see how long it is you figure it has to be important so you keep reading but it's not worth your time and you just wasted a whole minute reading absolutely nothing at all? I do.
