here's my knitting bag
My requirements were to hold 16 inch long needles and not look too calico-kitschy.
I knit on the train going to work so I wanted something to look a little more professional, at least on the outside. I used grey and black since that seems to be  90% of my wardrobe! There is also one of those plastic backpack clippy things on the strap.
It's worn messenger style,  across the body.

fabric is a charcoal-grey heavy denim and straps are nylon webbing

I used bright flowered lining because the outside is so plain, and it's hard to find things in bags with dark lining. I like the contrast between urban neutrals on the outside and tropical brights on the inside.

Seems your requirements were met.  The bright secret inside of the highly sophisticated outside is neat.  Well done.

Fantastic bag! It looks so great, and useful too.

Warning: Wisting can be addictive...

...so does Pinterest-ing!

So professional looking! And the flowered inside cracks me up with its contrast to the "serious" outside. Looks plenty big enough too- nicely done!
