You did stunning work on "No Less a Woman". I am very happy to see that so many women are not taking the baby thing lightly. It has always amazed me how so many seem not to even give it a moment's thought, they say it's shameful not to give birth. Taking your destiny and life in your own hands and thinking about what you want, instead of letting others decide your moves is NOT shameful or sinnful.

I've had a painting in my head for 5 years now (I am still preparing for it, I always have a feeling I'm not ready for a painting on such a big scale) It is on the same subject matter. Intentional childlessness and the fright that many have about the subject of infertility.

Your print is wonderful and it is greatly appreciated.

Beautiful linocuts!  I especially <3 re:Cycle & the self portrait.  I'm a big fan of linework.

Stinkerbelle... you don't happen to be a roller girl, do ya?

Who are you addressing in this post?  I don't see a 'Stinkerbelle' having posted in this thread.  Just curious!   Grin

RM-My self portait is titled "Stinker Belle," I'm thinking that's the reference.

Beatcowboy -I considered starting a league here in Cleveland quite a while back, but decided I didn't have time to commit to it. Now there is a league here, but I'm not involved.

My feelings exactly! Some people seem to think it's selfish NOT to have a child. I think it's selfish TO have a child if the only motivation is because that's what you're "supposed to" do.

I was indeed referring to the self-portrait title.  I think there's a player on the Cleveland league whose derby name is Stinkerbelle, and when I saw your self-portrait, and the fact that you were from Cleveland, I thought perhaps you were she. Smiley  Derby does tend to take over your life...  Undecided

Anyway, <3 <3 <3 your prints again!

I love your prints. I really enjoyed making linocuts at college and you're inspiring me to do some more.

As for the baby thing... I've been married 10+ years. I don't get shit from my family about my child-free status, but my friends are a whole other story Cheesy

love the last, in no small part b/c I can identify.  I've been married for 15 years and we are not having kids.  I cannot believe the crap we get! Plus, everyone assumes I hate kids.  Not true.  I can like them but not want to have any of my own.  It's not mutually exclusive!

It seems like so many women just jump right in without thinking the whole thing over.  A symptom of the unexamined life.  Just reacting without thinking.  </rant> Smiley

Beautiful work!

I was 29 when I got pregnant with my daughter, who is my first and only biological child.  We had been married for almost 5 years.  People tell me all of the time how smart I was to wait.  I sometimes miss all the 'free time' I had before I had her, but I know I'll get more time back after she is grown, so it's all good!   Grin

Keeping this post on topic of your artwork...

I love how there are all kinds of different objects used in your 'Household Hula'!  It's like those pictures in the 'Highlights' magazine we used to read as kids where you find all the hidden objects within the pictures.  So creative, too!
