My prints

Hi all! This is my first post to the More Art forum. You guys are fanfreakintastic.
Last semester I took a printmaking class and absolutely loved it. These are four of the prints I did, in order of completion.
"Household Hula"
This is a line etching. The assignment was to use 3 objects you'd find in a kitchen & 3 you'd find in a garage, and do something unexpected with them. And the household hula is born!
"re:Cycle"
This one is a linocut (or linoleum relief print). This assignment was to represent intense joy & intense fear. My intention was to express the cycle of life and death, good and evil, yin and yang, blah blah blah and yada yada yada.
"Stinker Belle"
This is a 2-color linocut using the key block method. The assignment was pretty much to do whatever we wanted, as long as we used this method. This is a self-portrait, and I wanted it to show the "good" & "bad" sides of my personality. I should add that the image is based on a photo taken by my friend Karen Novak, an amazing photographer, who also took the photo (on the same day) that I use here as my avatar.
"No Less A Woman"
This is also a linocut. This was my final project, which could be anything using any of the methods we studied during the semester. Since I loved the linoleum process so much, I decided to stick with it. I think my classmates thought I was nuts! They're not so far off, I think. Anyway, the figure in the middle is me. I don't plan to have kids, and people are always giving me shit about it ("oh, you'll change your mind!" etc.), so this is my statement that not having children doesn't make me any less female.
So that's my work! I'd love to get some feedback on them. Thanks a ton!

Thank you so much! I'm most proud of that print, it's probably my favorite piece I've ever done.
I did one reduction linocut when I tried college for the *first* time in '93. Aside from that, I hadn't really done any printmaking before last semester. Having a great professor definitely helped! You know the kind that everyone (else) hates but you learn the most from?

Brilliant! I just love the bottom one. Not because I don't have a child, because I do...but I have an older sister who shares your thoughts on the matter...and I have to say that she is exactly that...'No less a woman'!!! She's just amazing! And so are you!
Thanks for sharing!

I love all of your prints. Especially "No Less a Woman". I just got married 1.5 year ago and I can't believe all the crap people give when you tell them you don't think you're going to have kids. My MIL told my husband that "my eggs were getting old"!!!!!!! And she's a nurse for christ sake! Gah, some people. Anyway, sorry for my rant. Your prints are stunning

I LOVE that last one. I, too, am plagued by pushy baby-people, and you've expressed yourself so well with it.
The rest are well done, too. So clean and polished/professional looking.

Thanks so so much for everyone's input.
My hubby and I have been married for 5+ years, and we hear it ALL the time about the babies. I love kids, I love my nieces and nephews, but I just don't want any of my own for several reasons, and people just can't seem to wrap their minds around it! The way I see it, just becuase you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD! I'm so pleased that this print seems to express what I wanted it to. Thanks again!

Beautiful linocuts! I especially <3 re:Cycle & the self portrait. I'm a big fan of linework.
