Ha! Small world indeed.  I thought a crazy collage was appropriate to represent SMC anyhow.  What year did you graduate? I graudated '06.

We just missed each other by a few years! I graduated in 2000. I was one of the unlucky ones who got to eat in the B.A.T. (Big Ass Tent) while they totally redid the cafeteria for future classes such as yours.

I received my 5 lines from charliebrown.

When I saw the lines, I knew that I wanted to do a collage. So I asked pjmclnj if I could make a tape transfer of the lines and paste them on after everything was together.

pjmclnj said, to ask my partner (charliebrown) who said that the idea was to be creative.

So here are my lines:

and here's what I did with them:
a dark background:

and a lighter background:

the cat and tree just popped right out and I had to find just the right pictures and patterns.

Thanks so much, charliebrown, I love my lines. And many thanks Patti for organizing a great swap!

Whoa Sew!!  As if the graphics/techs you used weren't awesome enough, that curtain put it over the TOP!  Take a bow!

Whoa Sew!!  As if the graphics/techs you used weren't awesome enough, that curtain put it over the TOP!  Take a bow!

*modestly bowing*

If you knew how many times I fussed and tore off piece on that card.

I bleached the background area where the window was, because the card was brown, and I wanted a blue. Then when I went to watercolor over the bleach, <SIGH> the bleach, BLEACHED out the blue. And while I thought that I had totally ruined my card, I ended up loving the blotches the bleach created -- more cloud like.

then I took a night to make a "real tree" with branches and leaves. But in a collage, well that got buried.

Found the greatest butterfly and bird, those I just love!

Found a couch in an ad, cut that out but it got buried, then the cat that I first made blended into the couch colors, so both got scrapped.

Then I decided to make a colorful background, put a "windowpane" plastic over the window. . . which caused me other problems.

Finally I just decided to cut out the cat, patch it together separately and then put it all together.

The curtain was in the original plan, but it had to be the last element, and when my brads arrived from skybluepink.com I had the final touch.

Oh these ATC are mini labors of love for me, but when I complete one, I just love the finished look, the catharsis of the process. . .

Thanks all! Can't wait to see what you all do.

I'm in love with your card Colorfuldayz, and candikaneiscrafty your use of the lines was great, Paperbag, little sailor, MoonLightbliss33, and pmjnj wow what great drawing skills!

And fellow collage-r, DarthSqurl, great use of materials!

BTW, I made so many copies of my lines, and I just looked at them sideways, got a new idea. . . . LOL

That's such a clever way of using collage and keeping the lines!
If I hadn't already nearly finished my card, I'd have used your idea Wink I absolutely adore collage layers and using lots of different media Cheesy
