I am about a month away from moving to Galt.  I live in Hollywood now, and I'm nervous because I don't know of any crafty shops/ classes in the area.  Is there some sort of community college that offers any classes that you know of?  I'm interested in silversmithing/ leatherwork/ etc.

Also, where can I go for craft supplies?

Help!

oy.

Hollywood to Galt? I don't know galt well at all, but Elk Grove is close by and there is a JoAnn's super store, a quilt shop and a yarn shop there. And a ridiculous amount of scrapbooking stores. 3 that I can think of, but I know there are more.

I live in Sacramento, near downtown and I get most of my craft supplies at thrift stores, Joanns and online. Or in swaps with othe rcrafters. Good luck with your move! Feel free to email me if you have other questions lily_clairedesigns@yahoo .com

We have just started a Sacramento Craft Mafia, there is a blog and a webpage www.sacramentocraftmafia.com, sacramentocraftmafia.blogspot.com if you want to meet up with like minded crafty peeps.

Years ago, there used to be a huge craft supply flea market in Galt (it was so big I used to drive there from San Francisco!)

My grandmother and I used to make favors for parties and we would drive out to Galt for the wholesale flea market. There are quite a few craft and fabric vendors. It's wholesale, but they sell to normal people at wholesale price. It's been a few years, but I think that it is on either Tuesday or Wednesday. Get there early. Very early.
