I'm usually more of a knitter, but I couldn't pass this blanket up.  I decided to make it less of an heirloom blanket and more of a blanket that will wipe up spit up and get thrown down on the floor for play time so I used Peaches and Creme yarn (far superior to the Sugar and Cream IMO.) And I used a 6.0mm hook.

The pattern is from the wonderful book Craftivity.  Love it!

Actually, I think this would be such a great project for a beginner crocheter because it's so free form that you can't do anything "wrong".  Plus it's really fun!

I have been looking for a baby blanket pattern forever!  This one will do.  Your colour choices are great!  It totally reminds me of a topigraphical map.  Perfect for a little boy's cars and trucks to go off roading.
