It really wasn't that hard at all.  The pattern is pretty simply although not easily memorizable.  I like the three needle bind off that is used for the edging and it too was easy.

The hardest part was actually machine sewing the lining, since I am kinda new to sewing.  You then hand sew it into the bag.  So the sewing was the hardest part for me.

As a future doctor, I absolutely LOVE it!  What a fun gift to knit up for my friends.  Though I'm guessing this is time intensive enough to only go to my very special friends.  I hope I have a doctor's bag this awesome someday.

That looks awesome, I also have seen this in the store and it is pretty ginormous (is that how you would spell it .. hehe) but you have done a great job!! the only thing I have made from this book is the slippers for my mom which I finished in a day and a half and loved, but I love almost everything in this book.

Nice work.

It's beautiful!  I read on your blog that you didn't like how floppy it is.  What about putting some plastic in between the lining and the knitting to keep it more stiff.  I've been loving using that plastic grid that little kids use to learn sewing with a big tapestry needle and yarn. (does that make sense at all?)

Thanks for all the wonderful comments, I really do appreciate them  Grin

Regarding using the plastic template material, I kinda thought about that but then couldn't image how to pull it off.  Plus, I thought I wanted to maintain some of the slouchyness that the designer put in just in case I was missing a great design feature  Huh  But all in all it's a good bag and...to late to go back because I am mentally on to the next great thing.  Hopefully one of you will incorporate that plastic when you make yours, then I can see it  Wink

Thanks again for all your comments

Love your bag.  I have been wanting to make this for a long time. After seeing your finished bag,  I decided to take a class at Wildfiber to make this.  My only dilemma is which yarn to choose.  I have quite a bit of Malabrigo Worsted  that would be nice, but I am wondering if it is too soft.  I know it suggests Manos, which is a bit rougher than the Malabrigo.  I would love to use something I already have, but if I am going to go spend so much time knitting this, I want to use the correct yarn.  Decisions!  I have to make them quickly, because we start tonight.

Thanks is so great that you are taking the class at the store! That will be a finished object with memories knitted into every stitch.  I think the Malabrigo would be fine if (1) you get gauge or (2) don't care if the bag is a little smaller and maybe have to knit it with smaller needles, because I think the Manos is 3 sts/inch where are worsted weight yarn is usually a little smaller.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful compliments
