Ok so Last night I recieved my package from the DIY Swap and it was for making a messanger bag. I was so excited I had to get right to work and see what I could come up with.

This is the bag I came up with after tweeking the pattern just a bit!!

A very cute purse!!

Here is a side view.

Back

Bottom

Another side view

Then My parernts dog Isabelle decided that it was better fit for her than for a purse...

She stayed in there forever and then cried when I took the bag home with me! I think I am going to have to give the bag to my mom so it can be Isabelle's Carrying bag from now on!

So what do you all think? Be honest please but remember I just learned to sew about 2 weeks ago and this is my first project that I did on my own!!

What a great bag! If it were intended as a dog bag, a firm bottom may be better. But it is so impressive coming from a new sewer! Especially all the details. There are a lot of things you can do with it from here too, like patches, buttons, embroidery, even stenciling... I'm impressed!

Great work - you will be addicted now for sure!  Only one suggestion - my grandmother was a seamstress and her advice was that pressing is the most important part of any sewing project.  So when you press as you go along, you get firmer edges.  So my grandma would have said: "Good goods!" to your bag....

Thanks so much everyone!!

cha.cha.cha. -yeah I though about the stronger bottom even for it as a purse. But since I never though that it would have a dog in it when I was making it I wasn't to worried about it. lol

sharonan - that's kind of funny the whole time my mom was saying " I am about to go get the iron and iron that thing myself" I didn't see the point. I do see the point now but hey it was one of my first projects so.... I learned something next time I will iron though!!  Smiley
