Craft Rooms/Organizing Craft Supplies

Oh I LOVE seeing photos of other crafters spaces!  Even when they're messy... This is a great idea.

Okay: TIP ONE!!!
If you have lots of bit of paper to organise (like me and my zines stuff) then get a whole heap of brightly coloured manilla folders, label them, and organise away! I have a whole heap of them and they're really useful.
TIP TWO:
If you need to organise said bits of paper, but you don't have time right that very minute, get another manilla folder, label it "TO DO" and put all your yet-to-be-sorted bits of paper in until you get around to sorting them.

One: Scheme a design for your craft space
Two: make space and gather boxes and other containers
Three: seperate different craft materials (beading, fabric, paints, markers, etc.)
Four: organize materials into easy categories
Five: put everything away
Six: Craft away!
Seven: PUT THINGS BACK WHERE THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO GO!

This has worked for me Tried and true

I keep embroidery floss in a cardboard and fabric holder my mum made,
Beads and thread in a beading tackle box,
Knitting supplies in a plastic bag (soon to be denim satchel,)
Drawing/painting supplies in compartmented containers,
fabrics with and without project uses in seperate containers,
random cool magazines and papers in a file folder system in totes,
and blank paper/notebooks/etc in it's own tote.

I will give pictures soon (not before, as I've currently remodeled my entire room.)

Yes! I am constantly struggling to keep things organized. In fact it was a search for organizing craft tips that led me here in the first place.

i would LOVE to hear how people manage their workspaces. mine is horrible! i have so little space (NYC apt share situation).

maybe people could post phots of their workspace?

share tips about organization and products?

i'm particularly interested in finding out how other people manage working on more than one project at once in a small space and how people store very large pieces of paper.

I'm sorry if this has been suggested (I did a search but nothing came up!)

I'm always looking for new ways to store craft materials and fabric etc. to keep them nice and clean but at the same time compact and accessable for crafting when they need to be!  I thought it would be nice to have a board where craftsters could share and suggest their different ways of finding room to store all their crafting things!  Perhaps it could include discussions and pictures of (extremely lucky) people's studios/sewing rooms as well as smaller simpler things such as how you keep your buttons nicely sorted.  I always find these sorts of thing very interesting and helpful so would love to see everyone's ideas

But perhaps this is a topic that should be posted in the Misc. Craft Discussion & Questions board?

Anyway, just thought I would suggest it (after all, it is partly Craftster's fault that I am now finding myself swamped in all kinds of craft goods required for all the different projects I'm wanting to make after seeing them on here!!  )

I second this idea! I'm forever trying to organize my paper, adhesives, paint, fabric, trims, beads... ect. and I never seem to be happy with it.

I'd LOVE to see others rooms/areas with colour as I finally get to paint soon!
