I was inspired by all the other book purses, so I made this one for my mom's birthday.  We would read Nancy Drews together when I was little, so I hope she likes it! And yes, I have saved the guts of it.  I'm going to create a new cover for it and keep it on my book shelf.

Here's the front:

The handles are hematite beads (which I forgot are naturally magnetic!) and the clasp is just a button.

For the lining, the picture was actually the art that was on the back of the front cover and the first page that I printed out on iron-on paper.

I created the lining with the pocket, ironed on the transfer and cut the slit in the transfer to open up the pocket.

Here's the other side:

That's a picture from the book.  It was originally supposed to be on both sides and on the outside, but I messed up the transfer so now the good one is a 'surprise' on the inside.  Let me know what you think!

Yeah, it was the 1934 edition, so I felt really bad about the deconstruction (and caught some flack for it!) but now my mom is getting a present that is older than she is.  Grin

That's so cool! I used to love Nancy Drew when I was a kid. I think that story was one of the first ones I ever read.

I just ordered a Nancy Drew book off Ebay so I could try this. That cover is just too cute. Thanks for the inspiration!
