I'm constantly using these fabrics that I find at this chain of Japanese dollar stores that we have in LA.  I'm not sure what this one was supposed to be originally because it is nice soft cotton fabric not the kind of scratchy dishtowel fabric that a lot of the really cute prints I find there are on.  I really like this traditional Japanese star pattern.

The pocket is an io moth screen printed on broadcloth.  The same fabric that the bag is lined with.

that fabric is adorable! I like the moth too but esp. the fabric -glad you were able to show a close up of it-otherwise I wouldn't have taken a closer look at it.

They are called Marukai 98 cent stores.  They are run buy Marukai which is a chain membership grocery store, kind of like a Japanese Costco, but the 98 cent stores don't require membership.  There used to be one in Little Tokyo which would be the closest to you but it looks like it changed to Waraku which probably isn't quite as cheep. http://www.marukai.com/location-e.html.  If you go to the Gardena or Torrance ones don't buy out all the cute fabric.  Wink
