Help! I have just over a week to make my dad a birthday present! Please, please help me with ideas.

I have less than $40 CAD to spend. I have tons of yarn (thinking of knitting him socks). My dad likes: living in the country, his big truck, bbqing, hunting, fishing, golf, being a "guy's guy", port, nice wine, politics, Aboriginal art...

In the past I have gifted him cookies, food stuff and lots of clothes.

My dad likes to BBQ too. His birthday is in the summer so it was perfect. I made him a dry rub marinade one year and put it in a nice container.  I found it on allrecipes.com.  It consisted of brown sugar, pepper, paprika, and salt.  It was yummy!  I also found him some shishkabob baskets for the grill.  You could even make him a BBQ grilling apron and stencil something on it. Hope you figure it out!

You could possibly knit him covers for his golf clubs.  My dad is fussy about covering his drivers and appriciates soft covers.

I don't knit so much, but maybe a modified sock pattern would work?  Maybe a more skilled knitter could help you figure it out.

Thank you both so much for you responses. I decided to knit my dad golf club covers for Father's day because I found a fantastic pattern on knitty. The dry rub is also a great idea that I'm going to have to try making.

Come to think of it, I am going to have to knit my dad some golf club covers. I knit my mom stuff all the time but have never been able to think of anything to knit for my dad. That is a great idea!
