I've been thinking about the question of how will we know if our partner has already read what we want to send. I will partner people whose interests are similar. Then I think it'll be best for partners to talk to each other about what book to send. Although if your favourite book is rather obscure you've probably got a better chance of surprising your partner Smiley

As for what craft to send, I'm going to suggest people send one medium-sized, book-related thing (small tote, ipod cosy, glasses case, etc) and a bookmark. But again -- talk to your partners. If you both feel like sending a chapter-by-chapter embroidered version of your book, go for it!

I just finished w/ a similar swap. What I did was judging from the authors that my partner liked (I got a list of her favorites) I picked a couple of authors. Then I asked her to list every book she'd read by those authors. That way I was able to pick something she liked and have it still be a surprise!

I added an "additional" myself to the questionnaire when I sent it in.. Wink I wrote down who I have everything of, who I've read, who I've liked and loved, and who I've hated.
I missed some authors (like J.K. Rowlings, I didn't mention her, but I HAVE read the potter books) and excluded some - or the list would never have ended!

other than that, conversation with your partner makes a good swap Smiley

I think I am just going to have to make billions of PMs to my partner until they are sick of my interrogations!! Smiley
I like ghostgirl's idea, so if all else fails with finding the proper book I will use that.
