Aww, can you recommend any good US black comedy authors?  I think the only one I've come across is  Chuck-Palahniuk, (I don't read masses of books!!) I've only read one of his books, - Choke, it was bizarre, i really enjoyed it http://www.amazon.com/Choke-Chuck-Palahniuk/dp/0385720920  Grin

I just signed up!

RubyTuesday, have you checked out Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman (although he's really British, but lives in the US)?
Also, you would probably like Christopher Moore!

AHHHHHHHH!   You people are trying to kill me!  I am actually reading Good Omens right at this moment!  Christopher Moore is my favorite!   Carl Hiassen is really good too, if you don't mind reading about Florida.  David Sedaris is good in nonfiction.  Oscar Wilde in the old tymie black comedy category.

Seriously though, read Moore...I mean it...  If you like Good Omens, then start with Lamb.  It is excellent.

I love David Sedaris! I've read all his books, have his boxed set on audiobook (it's excellent and he's reading everything, of course). I've even been to see him speak live when Dress Your Family in Corderoy and Denim came out. He's really funny in person too, but not in a stand up comic type way.

I've heard quite a few of his recordings on NPR during Ira Glass' show.  Reading him is funny, but hearing him talk makes it all so much better, he's got the perfect voice for his stories.

I am a young adult reader but I read a lot of adulty books. I've heard a lot of good things about Chuck-Palahniuk but haven't read anything by him...
I've signed up.
I am thinking I might send a young adult book (depending who my partner is), but I have some other books in mind too!

I LOVELOVELOVE Palahniuk!  I have all of his books, but Survivor and Lullaby are my favorites.  I also love Moore -- Lamb is one of my favorite books too.  Gaiman and Sedaris are also loves of mine.

It's good to know that other people in this swap have the same taste as me!  I was worried!  Cheesy
