Her book, "Knitting Rules!" explains perfectly how to make a hat and it also tells you what to do if your hat ends up too pointy!

Here's the result:





It looks pointy in the photo below but that's just the way I'm wearing it and the angle my husband took the photo at. After many tries I finally have a warm wool touque that I can wear if and when it gets cold enough to wear a touque here in Seattle.

Just in time for next winter!

Looks great. I just casted on for a winter hat for my mom. I was wondering where I was going to find a good decrease. Thankfully I have the book. Thanks Smiley

what yarn did you use, and what size needles if you don't mind my asking? looks great! and yeah, I LOVE that book, and anything by stephanie. have you read the book entitle just " yarn harlot". sooooo funny.

It *has* been freakishly warm in Seattle these days! I guess spring *is* really on the way....:-)

devguitarchick, I used Karabella Aurora Bulky, merino wool, in black.

I used U.S. #8 16" circular needles. When the decreases got too small for the #8s I switched to U.S. #7 32" circular to use the Magic Loop. I only used a #7 because I don't have a #8 32".

I took a cue from Elizabeth Zimmerman when she said not to be too concerned with size of needles and that one size down won't make much difference.

I feel like I finally have an all-purpose touque!
