I actually said, out loud, "that's friggin' brilliant!".  Nobody else home, just me and the dog.  And I'm talking out loud to myself.  I want to make one!! Cheesy

same here!  (except I have a cat and baby)

We are in NY and are supposed to be headed to FL to visit my dad in another month. And this would be an awesome idea to keep my 5 yd old daughter busy, she LOVES to draw and color so I think it would be perfect.
And luuckily I have a ton of lids out in the garage!

Oh yes! I love the thing on car rides!   Wink

And, as an update: that E6000 glue is fantastic.  It's been two years and all sorts of weather, and it is still holding the fabric to plastic.

What a wonderful idea! I have a few of these lids in my closet and this would be a perfect use for them!

I agree with all! Fantastic idea!  I have the wooden table top from a microwave cart (the cart itself broke) that I think I might do this with! Smiley *idea stolen*!!! Wink

I'll be on the lookout for orphaned lids now, too. I never would have thought to use one for a lap desk.
Great idea and great project!

Wow, so simple yet so effective! You should take this to Dragon's Den, haha. I have back problems and am always using my hard cover books as lap desks but this is a million times better!
