The hat is beautiful.  Glad it worked out well for you.

Regarding information about selling and pricing try asking over in the business boards http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?board=101.0

Was this a knit then felt project, then needle-felted accents?

no knit or crochet... just the wool wet felted over a flat resist, cut open, felted more, needle felted to fix 'issues' lightly wet felted, then needle embelished with yarn and more roving, and then finally a short wet felt to make sure everything was well attached and intigrated to
the peice.
The white wool is parts of a spinning bell from Sheep Shed Studios, the pink is part of a grab bag from there as well, and the only yarn is the green for the vines, leaves and ties (ties were looped through a small hole in each flap then braided before felting)

Thanks for the overview of your process.  My heart just races when people talk about how they have created different pieces.  Is that weird or what?

I remember you asking about felting over a resist awhile back.   The hat is so impressive for your first wet process felted piece using resist.  The pink is so even and the felt so smooth.  The patching with the needle felting seems to have worked well.  You really have a good hand and eye for this process.  Plus lots of patience, grit and gumption.

Umm, OK in today's terminology that means "you ROCK!"

Sometimes forget how old I am and that my words of praise are often archaic.

Hoping to see much more felting from you.  Love looking at beautiful things.  Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful!  How did you form the pink border and get it so straight?

Actually I tried to take a short cut and felted it in a washing machine after it passed the 'pinch test' and didn't seem like I could shrink it any more (it was HUGE)...  Embarrassed SERIOUSLY BAD IDEA! It ended up really lumpy, it almost looked like a turtle shell type of pattern, so I had to needle felt a complete layer of white over the whole thing (inside and out).  Cry
The pink was needle felted over the raw edge where I cut it open to take the resist out before the 2nd wet felting (I did all the rest of the stages by hand after the machine felting disaster!)
Thanks so much for all the compliments! It's nice that all you great felters like my work.

Wow, I'm just in awe.  I'm so impressed with wet-felted pieces in general, which seem like magic to me--I've never tried and the descriptions of the process seem so intimidating.

And this hat, in particular, is just gorgeous.
