Hey, that top is really cute.  I like the dress as well, and that is exactly the kind of top I want to make for myself.  Problem is that I have no top like that (nor dress)!  Grrrr.  But, I'll figure it out.  I recently tried a pattern in muslin (thankfully) that was hideous, but I did learn a bit.
