I love vintage clothes and vintage inspired things. Though I do have a number of vintage patterns I have never knit any of them due to lack of time etc. So this challenge was just the right excuse to dig through them...
...but I ended up not using any of them for my entry
Instead I used a modern pattern from knitandtonic, but let's start at the beginning.
I found these buttons recently and just had to buy them:
They are 32mm big and screamed coat/jacket to me. I searched through my stash and found some soft mohair yarn in matching pink; "Soft hair" from Gedifra in #4957.
I had seen some floaty coat/jacket on the cover of a vintage knitting magazine on ebay, but unfortunately too many people bid on that one. I was about to make up my own pattern when I came across Flair
. Exactly what I had in mind! There was no need to reinvent the wheel, so I used that pattern to knit my coat.
Here it is hanger blocking sans buttons:
Trying it on for the first time and looking into the mirror I though that something was still missing(apart from the buttons). So I knit a fun fur collar to go with it(GGH "Apart" in black and pink)!
P.S.: I hope the pics show up as the craftster picture hosting is down at the moment.
P.P.S.: Self-timer pics suck, had to take over 20 to get these
