My JoAnn's is having a pattern sale.
Mccalls are $2.00 each and :gasp: Vogue are $3.00 each.
I can only buy 10 of each though, so I would appreciate hearing about your favorites.

I tend to use New Look most often because I find them easier to alter but here are few of my favorites from McCall's. Vogue is not in my budget.

McCalls
M5137  easy to make and girly.

M2583  a great lounge shirt I love this over swimsuits.

My Jo-Ann will sell you ten of McCall's OR ten Vogues when they're both on sale, not ten of each. (Grumble-grumble.)

The Vogues will be more fashionable, both now and for long-term style. They will also be more difficult to make, in general, so that may affect which is right for you. I nearly always find all the big pattern makers will offer similar styles, and invariably the Vogue one is just better, with fit or details more like a good department store's offerings. This is especially true for dresses and formal wear.

McCall's, though, costs a third as much, and has a much better costume section, if you're into that. It's also great for basics--skirts, tops, pants, simple summer dresses, and so on.

I hope you'll share what you bought.

I am a pattern addict!
I hit the sales everytime Joann's has it!

My faves are:
Vogue V8079- Yeah, it's a simple strapless or tank top, but they are classic pieces that you will use over and over!

McCalls
M5271- This is for jersey tops.  There are a million of different patterns in here.  Long sleeve, short, tank... All trendy and SUPER easy!
m5391- Shorts! I'm only on my first pair... but I will be using it tons for all of my shorts this summer!

-Hope that helps... I'll be there at Jo Ann's Too!

If Simplicity goes on sale, 4044 has a wonderful bias cut skirt. I've made 3 of it (1 black wool, one rose wool/silk/stretch blend, one thick cotton print), but I shortened it to hit right above my knee.

It fit me perfectly with no alterations, and although laying out the panels exactly right with the grain lines was a big pain, it came out very nice in the end.  One of my friends at work today wanted to know what Ann Taylor I'd bought the rose one in, which I took for a complement.  Wink
