mah boyfriend got me a set of fat quarters for christmas (from moda's building blocks range. he's colourblind, but he knew i loved the tape measure fabric, and the store conveniently sold fat quarters in coordinating sets), and i decided they were destined for a needle roll.

i know there's a pattern in s'n'b, but i don't have a copy. i looked at someone else's, and got kind of confused. so i ended up drafting my own, based on a seriously fugly needle roll i already had.
only this one has three layers of pockets and is twice as wide. it fits all my needles plus some other bits and pieces.
it weighs a TON, even before i put stuff in it.

additional close up of the pretty pretty fabric on my blog, and i intend to post a tutorial sometime too, if anyone's interested. here's a tutorial.

Um, yes, very very interested in a tutorial!  I have been wanting to make one of these for a while.  I have knitting needles strung about in the house in various old vases and knitting baskets.  I need to get organized.  I love the fabric and the design of the one you made. Nice work.

Really nice needle roll!  Is the measuring tape fabric accurate (is the fabric just cute, or can you use it to measure things too)?

Where did all this fabric come from? I CAN'T have bought THAT much!
